Eighty-six-year-old Milrea Blackwood lives in the Glenwood Gardens independent living facilities. She's the mother of four, the grandmother of 17, the great-grandmother of 21 and the great-great gandmother of five. Five generations of her family live in Bakersfield, and they all love her special cookies.
CHOCOLATE OATMEAL NO BAKE COOKIES
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 cup butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups oatmeal
Combine first 4 ingredients in a pan and bring to a boil on medium heat. Cool 1 minute and add remaining ingredients. Stir well and drop by teaspoons onto waxed paper. These are no bake cookies. Optional: nuts and or coconut.
