While reading "The Castle in the Attic" by Elizabeth Winthrop, my fourth-grade students learned about the workings of a medieval castle.

We celebrated the culmination of the novel by students building their own, individual castles.

M'Lady Amigh's class then held its annual Medieval Day, dressing in period costumes and inviting "royal guests" (parents and other classrooms) to visit our medieval kingdom, see the castles, and even enjoy a morsel of royal treats.
