Are you ready for some football?
Freedom Freshmen of Golden Empire Youth Football were. They went undefeated 9-0 for the season.
They played North High for the first round playoffs and were able to win 26-0, which gave them a spot in the conference championships.
Players came out fired up to play Wasco for the conference championship.
Wasco was the first to put numbers on the scoreboard, with a breakaway touchdown. The score after a missed extra point was 6-0. Freedom battled back and scored a touchdown with an extra point. Going into halftime, both stands were anxious with the score Wasco-6, Freedom-7. Both teams came out strong, ready to play the second half, but Freedom was able to maintain the lead and won 34-12. Both teams gave a great effort.
After winning the conference championship, Freedom came up against a very tough Ridgeview team for the last game of the year for the league championship.
Both teams were very strong, but that day Ridgeview was able to outscore Freedom to win the league championship.
Way to go, Ridgeview! You were a tough team!
Freedom Freshmen, we are proud of your accomplishments, you are all WINNERS!
Thank you to coaches Cesar Nieto, Nick Harker, Able Garcia, Daniel Vasquez and Philip Alvidrez for all of your time and energy and the values you taught the boys.
Now drop and give us 20 up, downs.
