We would like to nominate our daughter, Kaitlyn Moss for Youth Athlete of the Month.
Kaitlyn loves cheerleading and has been cheering for four years at Dolphins Dance and Cheer Club.
Her favorite position is as a flyer because of the difficult stunts she preforms while in the air.
Kaitlyn is also an awesome tumbler and can do a round-off with several back handsprings; she almost has her back-tuck.
Some of her accomplishments in cheerleading include winning a state championship with her team last year and being recently awarded the prestigious Rod Flynn Spirit Award at this year’s state championships.
Kaitlyn is a first-grade student at Columbia Elementary School. She always gets high grades and her favorite subjects are reading and math. She also likes swimming, scrapbooking and playing card games.
Kaitlyn is a smart, talented and hardworking person.
We are very proud of her. Go Dolphins!

After checking with Kaitlyn's mother for permission, I thought that others should know more about Kaitlyn. Since age 3 she has been going through extensive medical proceedures as she suffers from tremors. People think okay so she's a cheerleader, but what people don't know is that her tremors make keeping her balance very difficult. She never told her friends at Dolphin Cheer about this but the owner thought that others should know that she is an inspiration to those of us who know what she goes through just to be able to compete. The Rod Flynn Spirit Award is a prestigious award given to a cheerleader whose life has been changed because of cheerleading. You see she must work harder than the others to master the skills. To balance on one foot was impossible for a long time until she got a balance platform and she practiced until she overcame the tremors preventing her from accomplishing that goal. The girls on her team never knew about the tremors, they only thought that she was nervous or excited when they hold her hand or lift her for a stunt. We don't know what her future holds because her doctors still don't know the cause, even after 4 years of tests, but we are so glad that she has had the opportunity to cheer because of it she has learned determination and to never give up!!!

As Kaitlyn's coach... I wanted to share a few things about her!!! During practices, Kaitlyn doesn't want to stop and take breaks. She's always willing to show me her backhandsprings. She has a true love for the sport of cheerleading. She really is a gem to have around! She always has a smile on her face and never misbehaves! AND!!! Her parents are always helping me with the picture section of Dolphin's website.. www.ddcc.us Go check out Kaitlyn in action!!!
