Hello fellow rodders,

I would like to pass along a few street rod sites on the Web that I have found interesting. Some are sites that have all kinds of cars for sale, from street rods to classics. Some even have a "how to" sections and discussion groups, while others have e-mail newsletters you can subscribe to.

StreetRodding.com, http://www.streetrodding.co.... This web site has several sections, including Builders Corner, Car Shows, Car Clubs, Parts for Sale and Street Rods for Sale (searchable by year, make and model). This is an interesting site and I log on to it almost everyday. The site also has pictures of cars sent in from readers that have attended car shows all over the country. You can sign up for the site's newsletter that's e-mailed each week.

Street Rod Central, http://www.street-rodding.c.... I like this site because it has a lot of everything: editorials, a Rodders Corner, a Builders Corner, features, projects for sale, rod shows, street rod clubs, free and paid classifieds, and reader submissions.

The Street Rodder Network, http://www.streetrodder.com. This site is full of everything for the street rodder: Rod & Trot (their term), an event calendar, classifieds, message boards and web links. For the picture-starved, this site has almost 7,200 rod and classic photos.

Rodder.com, http://www.rodder.com. This site has classifieds, events and car shows, along with a free e-mail newsletter. There are sections focused on oldies, rodder rap, pictures, a store and vendors. You can even send a street rod e-mail card to someone. This is another of my "go to every day" sites.

HotRod HotLine, http://www.hotrodhotline.co.... This web site has cars for sale, mostly street rods, with sections focused on parts for sale, project vehicles for sale, and other auto-related items. This site also has a weekly e-mail newsletter.

Classy Auto, http://www.classyauto.com. This site has all kinds of autos for sale, from 4x4's to hot rods.

Collector Car Trader Online.com, http://www.collectorcartrad..., Deals on Wheels, http://dealsonowheels.com and Motorhead Trader, http://www.motorheadtrader.... These sites offer vehicles for sale and let you search by year, make/model and price range.

Streetrod Stuff, http://streetrodstuff.com, is a interesting site that will let you post your cars in different categories like sedans, coupes, pickups and roadsters. You can also sign up for an e-mail newsletter.

ClassicCar.com, http://www.classiccar.com. This site has ads and sections for a swap meet, classics, street rods, performance cars and hot rods. You can also sign up for an e-mail newsletter.

Kars.com, http://www.kars.com. This site has cars for sale, builders for sale, cars wanted, and a car of the month.

This are just a few sites for you to check out. If you know of others, e-mail me and I can post them on The Voice Web site and publish them in the paper.

Here are a few more street rod lingo terms:

Model "T": A Ford made between 1909 and 1927.

Pro Street: A Pro Stock drag racing-inspired building style in which the car's rear axle is substantially narrowed and the stock rear inner fender structure is modified to accept wide treaded tires. Pro street cars usually have powerful engines, roll cages, and mufflers.

Slicks: Treadless tires that supply better traction for drag racing.

Don't forget this weekend's Highway 99 rod show in downtown Bakersfield. Contact Art at 661-589-0947 or John at 661-634-9166, or see http://www.hwy99cruise.com/

Until next time,
Gerry
