We are very proud to announce that Arissa Jade Marasigan Torres made it to The United States Chess Federation Top 100 for her age group, 8. She is one of only 4 girls, who made it in this elite group. Her 1st Place, 5-0, win at the Southern California Open Scholastics propelled her to the top 100. Great Job, Reeses! Girl Power! Her next tournament is the Susan Polgar Chess for Kids in Reedley on October 25th then the 2008 National K-12 Championships in Florida in December. We'll keep everyone updated on her progress. In the meantime, she is busy with school and soccer. She is a part of the Bakersfield Elite Football Club, coached by her dad, Rommel Torres.

If anyone needs information regarding Scholastics Chess or wants to try-out for Bakersfield Elite Football Club, please reply or e-mail me @  shey513@aol.com.
