Rebecca St. James is getting good use of her suitcase.
As a global spokeswoman for Compassion International, St. James is just back to the U.S. following a mission in Rwanda.
But she should just keep that well-traveled luggage packed, because in a few, short weeks from now — Feb. 17 — St. James will launch her ambitious, whirlwind tour –– “If I Had One Chance to Tell You Something” –– at Canyon Hills Assembly of God Church in Bakersfield.
The stop here by the Australian-born, Grammy and Dove award-winner actually marks the kick-off of her 40-plus concert schedule.
The tour, which celebrates the release of St. James’ critically-acclaimed and latest CD of the same title, might as well include the subtitle, “Chicks That Rock!”
If St. James’ talent wasn’t enough, she’s chosen BarlowGirl to share the stage with her on the tour.
BarlowGirl's dramatic impact on Christian music over the past several years has brought them multiple Dove Award nominations; No. 1 singles for the Fervent label; and like St. James, a strong voice as role models for their audience.
Barlow sisters Becca, Alyssa and Lauren have again connected powerfully with their audience by way of their latest album release, “Another Journal Entry,” which showcases their affinity to rock for God.
The tour will also introduce audiences to BEC recording artist Jadon Lavik, whose recent Top 5 single, "What If," and current single, "Changing Happy," have given him wide exposure with Christian radio.
His sophomore album, “Life On The Inside,” is scheduled to be released on March 7.
For St. James, “If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something” heralds her first, full-on studio album release of totally new music in several years.
Released by EMI/Forefront in November, the album marks a return to her pop/rock roots with a strong, fresh energy and creativity in her music that, in the words of one reviewer ..."does more than gently rustle the curtains — it blows them totally off the rods!”
St. James’ first single release from the new project, “Alive,” debuted strongly on radio, recently reaching Top 5 in both the AC and CHR charts.
Major reviews of the album have welcomed the effort by repeatedly ranking it as the strongest collection of St. James' music to date.
The tour is said to focus on that same energy built around Rebecca’s passion for the message of her new music.
The “something” alluded to in the title is a theme that resounds throughout the presentation for CD buyers and tour-goers alike.
That message? Well, it’s a simple one:
“You are extravagantly loved by God.”
