Last weekend we were happy to make a stop at the Getty Center — along with thousands of other people — so we took our Northwest Voice on Vacation with us! The weather was gorgeous and was a perfect sumer day in L.A. and the Getty gardens were a display of spectacular color.

Earlier in the day I'd seen a flower that caught my fancy. It was so beautifully intricat, so exotic, that I had to take a picture of it. While looking browsing seventeenth century horticultural watercolors by women, I was delighted to find something similiar to the flower I'd seen.

I love it when "coincidences" like that happen!

What a delicate, unique flower! Have you ever been to the Huntington Library in Pasadena? My husband and I go there a couple of times each year to wander among the various gardens and explore the grounds. They just opened their new Chinese Garden and reopened the mansion itself, filled with amazing artwork and antiques. Check it out!

Thank you for this great post! I especially love the picture of your son reading his favorite magazine. haha :) The flower you photographed is lovely.

The Getty Center is probably one of the best places to visit in Los Angeles and all for $5 parking. My wife has taken our kids there numerous times and you can never take it all in. If you have not been there, go.
