Hello again, Northwest neighbors!

I hope you all had a great 4th of July!  Now, it's time for me to get back to work (yay!!), and get to creating the next great issue of our Northwest Voice (I am truly the luckiest person in town).

Pets .. Pets ... Pets!

*First, for a chance to see your dog or cat on the cover of the next Northwest Voice, please email me full-resolution (not resized) images of your dogs or cats to dmartin@northwestvoice.com by Wednesday at midnight!

(One reminder: When you see our Voice on newsstands or receive it in the mail, we are already preparing the next issue, so the following Tuesday is another deadline.)

Deadline for written submissions or announcements for the July 16th issue is Tuesday at 9:00 p.m.!

Some ideas for submissions this week... we are looking for:

• **Pet adoption stories: Have you recently rescued a pet from a local shelter?  What breed?  Why did you choose that one? What is the answer to our local pet population problem?
• **Pet photos
• Bicycling stories: Do you bike?  Race?  Take your kids on the bike trails in town?  I am interested in your stories, blogs, and photos of anything bicycling-related.  This week is special because Friday is "Ride your bike to work day."
• Attention NASCAR fans: Do you have any great NASCAR-related photos or stories?  How about stock car racing in Kern County?  Do you know a local NW neighbor who races stock cars?  Let me know!
• "Voice on Vacation" photo contest entries!
• Nominations for Educator and Athlete of the Month

Also, as always, please forward this email newsletter to anyone in the Northwest you know who doesn't currently receive it.  This bi-weekly email from me is a great way to remember deadlines and learn about our upcoming stories.  It's also great because it's how I notify you when I have FREE TICKETS to give away!  If you aren't a subscriber (to the newsletter), then you don't get the announcements.

Attention golfers: Do your children want to learn to golf? Junior Golf Academy at the beautiful RiverLakes Golf Course is a year-round program (split up in summer and winter sessions) designed to teach Juniors the game of golf.  Call Mike or Shelly at JGA: 496-0631, and start having some FUN this summer!

I hope you are enjoying our current patriotic issue.  It was so fun to make, and I love the cover photo submitted by the Crespo family!  For a chance to see YOUR photo on our cover, we are currently looking for cute dogs & cats.  Submit them today!
