I became a regular at Camille’s Sidewalk Café on Coffee Road last November. At the time, I was looking for a place to write my latest novel and needed some place that had free WiFi, decent food, and didn’t mind me sitting at a table for hours, hunched over my laptop. Little did I know that I would find all that and much more at Camille’s. Within days of my first visit, the staff knew my name. Not only did they know my name but my favorite sandwich (the Napa Valley Chicken Panini), my job (librarian), and the subject of my new novel (the end of the world). During breaks from typing, I came to know several of the people that work at Camille’s. I also realized that I wasn’t the only person they knew. As people came in, in singles or in groups, the staff knew who they were, who their kids were, and what they wanted to eat or drink. Their friendliness gives the place a comfortable feeling. And then there’s the food. With a menu that includes sandwiches, smoothies, salads, wraps, soups, and pizzas, there’s something for everyone. Everything I’ve tried has been excellent. Oh, and the desserts are to die for - my favorite is the Dulce de Leche cheesecake, but the brownies are a close second. In our community, there aren’t many places with free WiFi. Or that will let you linger as long as you want. Or that has such tasty food that is also healthy and affordable. Camille’s is one of those places. As I’ve come and gone over the last several months, I’ve noticed small groups holding meetings there. (Plus, Camille’s caters, if your group is too large for their facilities.) Eat, relax, and enjoy at Camille’s. I’m still there, at least once a week. Whether you’re looking for a new place to eat, a place to meet, or a place to use your laptop, Camille’s has what you need. Stop on by. And please tell Matt or Sofi to save my favorite table and start a Napa Valley Chicken Panini for me. I’ll be there shortly.
