Sitting on the sidelines

0 responses 0 comments After nine full years of playing soccer, this is the first time I actually hurt myself. 

I play goalie for North High School. This past week, we had a tournament at Hart Park. During our second game on Thursday, I dove for a ball that was coming toward me. Unfortunatly, I missed the ball. But when I was falling to the ground, I landed on my left knee. 

There was some shocking pain in my knee, so I notified my coach.  She
told me to do my best, and if it kept hurting, to tell her and she would take
me out of the game.

That next day, we played three more games. I played all three. By the time the third game came around, I was hurting badly, but I kept playing. Once the game ended, I limped off the field. I got to the sideline and just broke down into tears. I couldn't
walk any more then I had already. So the coach of the JV boys soccer team and my coach carried me off and put me into a golf cart and drove me away. 

After waiting at Memorial Hospital for five hours, I found out I hadn't broken any bones or anything drastic. But for right now, I am in cruches and a knee brace. In a few days I have to go back and get an MRI to see what is really wrong with my knee. Regardless, I have to sit on the sideline for a few weeks so my knee can heal. 

There are a lot of downsides to this injury.  But on the bright side, I don't have
to run sprints anytime soon!
