Norris School District Summer School this year will be offered to all current 2nd-7th Norris School District students that reside within the Norris School District. It will take be held at Norris Middle School at 6940 Calloway Drive. Classes will begin on June 11th, and end on July 2nd. Summer School will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. and end at 12 p.m. Bus transportation will only be provided in the afternoon for those students enrolled in the Norris Summer Day Camp.
Two Summer School programs offer remediation for at-risk students in Language Arts and Mathematics. Students will work on California State Standards by reviewing and passing District Competency Assessments. Additionally, Core classes are offered for enrichment. Some examples of Core classes include Spanish, Music, Volleyball, Sports Buffet, Exploratory Science, Fun Fantastic Math, and Drama. It is likely other Core classes will be added as staffing is completed.
Our overall theme for Summer School this year is Summer Olympics 2008 “Achieve It”. We will award and recognize student achievement for academics, as well as attendance. Our Opening Ceremony will get students off to a great start, and our Closing Ceremony will celebrate their accomplishments. Join us for sixteen days of fun and learning! Registration packets were sent home with each student. Additional packets are available on each campus.
