The Norris School District’s May Dinner, scheduled with Open House activities at all Norris School District elementary schools for Thursday, May 15 held its first coordinating meeting this last week. With dinner starting at 5:00 p.m. for an expected 2,000+ guests there are a lot of things to be coordinated. Parents at each of the elementary schools are encouraged to contact the coordinator listed below. Meal prices will be kept at last years level $12 for adults ($10 for presale) and $3 for the child’s hot dog meal. The adult meal is a tri-tip & lamb dinner with Basque trimmings. Bimat and Norris Elementary will have a “drive through” option for those who want the meal and to support their school.
May Dinner is a half century tradition that has been supported by the community and businesses. Last year Colombo Construction and Ordiz/Melby Architects made donations to cover the cost of the children’s hot dog meals, Jake’s Tex Mex donated the salsa, Grimmway Farms donated the potatoes and George Trucking transported the food. Many volunteers prepared the green beans, wrapped hot dogs and potatoes, served meals, decorated the school sites and most importantly, helped clean-up afterwards.
If you want to help this year contact Suzanne VanNeman at Bimat Elementary, Lori Ambrose at Norris Elementary, Sareen Carrasco or Julie Juul at Olive Drive Elementary, and Shelli Swartz at Veterans Elementary.
