On December 28, 2007 Taylor (7) and Carrie (5) did what most girls their age would never dream of.  They entered the Teaze Salon on Hageman and sat in that great big chair, donned the leopard print cape, and in one giant chop, cut off their 10 and 11 inch inch pony tails.  Now don't think that mom and dad had anything to do with this.

Shortly after beginning their Christmas Break from Bimat Elementary School they both came to us and said "we want to give our hair to charity".  Now that was a shock to both mom and dad who loved brushing that long brown hair.  So the first question was, of course, "Are you sure?"  "Uh huh" was their reply with great big smiles.  So, after a conversation regarding the unchangeable result of their choice, my wife called the Teaze salon and made an appointment with Tessa Revok for December 28th at 11:00 am.

The date and time arrived for the big event. Well, big for dad anyways who had to work while the "the girls" went to get their hair cut.  Once at the salon, Carrie, without hesitation stepped up, sat down, and sat wide eyed with her hypnotizing smile.  After a short time and a great eye for style, Tessa chopped, snipped, dried, teased, brushed,  and styled our little girls hair into a FABULOUS new do.

Taylor followed (just in case it didn't work out for little sister) and just as her sister, sat without hesitation for the transformation.  Walla!!! Extreme Makeover, Tessa style.

Now, I am not writting this for notoriaty or praise.  I'm writting this so my girls know how proud mom and dad are of their CHARITABLE hearts.  For two girls, 5 and 7, to choose to do something so dramatic at a time of year where giving is expected the most, they gave what too many of us take for granted.

Tessa, thank you for the beautiful job on both of the girls, you are awesome!

Now, I am not a spokesperson for Locks of Love but let me tell you a little something about their organization:

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. They meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses they provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

Their mission statement is:  To return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children. The children receive hair prostheses free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need.

Carrie and Taylor... I am so proud of the both of you! IF you are lucky enough to know this family, then this selfless act of kindness and goodwill will come as no surprise to you. Children emulate the examples they are shown. Tom and Jaime Bey are truly life role models not only for their 3 children but for all of those around them. I am proud and honored to call them friends and role models to myself and my children. Girls, not only do you look FABULOUS...you are FABULOUS on the inside where it really counts!
