A golf tournament 'for the love of seniors'

Kern Senior Collaborative is hosting a Scramble Golf Tournament on Oct. 19 at Sycamore Canyon Golf Course, 500 Kenmar Lane in Arvin. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m.

The Kern Senior Collaborative is a local non-profit that connects seniors to services in the area. The office is located at 1731 Chester Avenue, on the second floor. The telephone number is 835-7625 and e-mail (preferable contact method) is kernseniors@aol.com. The office is open part-time. E-mail and telephone messages are answered as promptly as possible.

The Oct. 19 golf tournament will raise funds for this much-needed service in Kern County. As our aging population increases it will be necessary for seniors and their families to be familiar with services available. Kern Senior Collaborative can help.

The fee for a team of four is $55 per player. The $55 fee includes green fees, cart and lunch. The Callaway Scoring System will be used.

There will be prizes for first, second and third places. Registration forms are available by contacting Dottie Johns at the Collaborative, 835-7625 or e-mail Kernseniors@aol.com.

Sponsorships are available at the eagle level ($300 or more), the birdie level ($200), the par level ($100) and tee sponsors at $50.

Eagle sponsors will receive registration for a team of four, opportunity to display company/organization banner outside clubhouse, recognition on luncheon poster and in all printed communications. An information table will be available for eagle sponsors to display brochures.

The birdie level includes registration for two golfers and recognition in the clubhouse as well as all printed communications and an opportunity to display brochures at the information table.

The par level recognition will include a poster in the clubhouse during lunch, recognition in all printed communications and the opportunity to display brochures at the information table.

Tee sponsors will be recognized with a one foot by two foot sign.

This event is open to all in the community who are interested in helping to assure that our senior population receives the information needed to live comfortably as they age. Call and sponsor a team, have a great day on the golf course and support a worthwhile cause while you enjoy the day!
