Can you imagine giving your inheritance to another couple—a couple who is not even related to you? That’s precisely the goal of a marriage mentor. However, these mentors pass along a different kind of wealth: wisdom, encouragement and experience.
This fall over 20,000 married couples will gather via satellite in more than 500 churches across North America to be trained as marriage mentors by experts, Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott and Dr. Tim Clinton.
In conjunction with Church Communication Network (CCN), Olive Knolls Church invites married couples throughout the community to participate in a day-long certificate course, Marriage Mentoring Training with Les and Leslie Parrott and Dr. Tim Clinton, on Saturday, October 6, 8:00 am — 2:30 pm via satellite on CCN.
In a day when odds seem stacked against marriage, marriage mentoring offers new hope—one couple at a time. Trained mentor couples pair up with less experienced couples, relaying practical strategies and support for making marriage work.
Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott, an internationally-known husband and wife speaking team, bring the highest level of expertise. Les, a clinical psychologist and licensed minister, and Leslie, a marriage and family therapist, co-founded the Center for Relationship Development on the campus of Seattle Pacific University in 1991. Their books have sold over one million copies in more than two dozen languages, and include the best-selling, Gold-medallion winner, Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts.
“… we’ve been recruiting, screening and training couples to become marriage mentors for more than a decade. We’ve heard their stories. We’ve done the research. Marriage mentoring works,” say Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott.
“Marriage mentoring provides a powerful form of life-support to married couples. In utilizing CCN’s satellite network, the number of marriages that will be encouraged and strengthened by this training is exponential,” says Bill Dallas, founder and CEO of CCN.
Olive Knolls Church, located at 6201 Fruitvale Avenue in Bakersfield is offering this training opportunity for the price of $40 per couple. Each couple will receive: eHarmony Marriage Tool; Marriage Mentoring Workbook for men and women; Two marriage DVDs; and a signed certificate upon completion. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to ask Les and Leslie questions live. A continental breakfast and lunch are included. The early bird deadline is August 31st, the price increases after that date. Email diane@oliveknolls.com or call 399-3303.
Founded in 1998, CCN provides more than 150 satellite events per year to churches. With a desire to help local churches become increasingly effective, Silicon Valley-based CCN broadcasts leadership training, educational seminars and outreach events to more than 4,000 churches throughout North America.
