Parents should appreciate school crossing guards

There have been a lot of parents writing in about how bad their school parking lots are, and it's the truth, especially at Endeavour Elementary School.
But they are forgetting the other important individuals who have to cope with disrespect for the rules -- the crossing guards. They deal with a lot more than what angry parents deal with. They have cars that don't stop for them and they have parents get mad at them because they don't move fast enough.
Crossing guards have to exercise a lot more patience than most parents. In order to make sure our children are safe, crossing guards stand their ground in all kind of weather -- sun, rain, wind and fog - and they always have a smile for the students and parents.
Now that school is almost out, or even when school begins again in the fall, why don't you say "Thank you" to them? Tell them how much you appreciate what they do to keep pedestrians safe on the roads to and from school. I, for one, would like to thank all of the crossing guards at Endeavour and in the entire Fruitvale District for doing such an important job and doing it well.
