My granddaughter Sarah Adamson is a swimmer. She has been swimming competitively since she was 9 years old. She is now 17. She started swimming with the Aqua Aces and was coached by Dave Graves. Graves remains her coach now the Bakersfield Swim Club. He's also the coach of the Centennial swim team, and Sarah is the co-captain for the second year in a row. She has also won the high point award every year in high school. Sarah use to give swim lessons at her house for her mother's daycare children. She has had several obstacles to overcome since she started swimming. She has had mono, which slowed her down, but she didn't let it stop her. She also had knee problems, but kept on kicking. This past year, she had to have her elbow operated on again and she had her tonsils out. Sarah wants to swim in college and I'm sure she is going to be great at it. The picture of Sarah is at the Valley Finals last year, where she received a medal for her backstroke.
Nominated by Frankie Knippel -- one proud grandmother.
