Liberty High Varsity Softball
Coach Kristine Jacobsen took her varsity squad to the Mt. Whitney
Tournament to give her girls a real softball test. While the grading
period won't be completed until the end of the season in the Central
Section playoffs, the early indicators are that she may have an "A" team.
The Liberty Varsity girl's won the Mt. Whitney Tournament and had to pass
several serious tests along the way. They beat Stockdale 7-0. But the
game against Centennial went into extra innings before Liberty won 1-0.
In the finals, Liberty beat Bullard 2-0 to secure the champions trophy.
Liberty High School JV Softball
What do you do when your JV team has lost only one game in the last two
years? The answer for the Liberty softball program was to enter the JV
team into a varsity tournament. Liberty started off the season at a JV
tournament that was rained out after Liberty's JV team won their opening
two games by shutouts.
Liberty opened the tournament with wins over South High and East High.
In the last game Thursday night, Liberty lost a 2-1 game to Golden
Valley. Liberty met its goal of getting a Saturday game, where the Rams'
varsity, by an 8-3 margin, defeated them.
Liberty High School Frosh/Soph
Liberty's freshmen girls participated in the South Tournament, opening
against Taft, put on by South High School.
