First, let me say what a great job you guys are doing with
The Northwest Voice. My wife and I look forward to getting it every other week.
My name is Paul Garcia and my wife's name is Daphne. We have been here since Jan. 1, 2004, and have just been watching everyone move in around us. We had the first completed home in the new Westdale Classics development and have loved this area since we arrived.
I am a community counselor and wrestling coach at Stockdale High School and my wife teaches sixth grade at Loudon Elementary. We have four wonderful kids and are looking to get involved in the area's offered sports. That is the reason I am writing.
I noticed you let area residents know about youth sports and events. I am currently coaching a youth wrestling team at Stockdale High School on Tuesdays and Thursdays for those age 5 through high school. Participants from 5 to sixth grade practice from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and junior high and high schoolers practice from 4 to 6 p.m. The teams are open to everyone, not just those attending Stockdale High. Practices run from February through May and the cost is $60. We will also be hosting a youth wrestling tournament May 12 at Stockdale. We welcome everyone!
I would like to know if you can put this in your paper.
Again, we think you are doing a great job and hope it continues.
Paul Garcia
Editor's note: Thanks, Paul, I'm glad you like The Voice -- and the Northwest! Welcome to the community. To answer your question, The Voice is happy to run youth sports announcements submitted by the community on our Youth Sports pages. Since we have a small staff and rely on community journalists (people like you who send us information), we appreciate frequent updates. Plus, it's a great, free way to get the word out about valuable sports clinics, teams and events. And if coaches get too busy, parents and participants are encouraged to send photos, score updates and articles. Support and promote our young athletes!
