On Jan. 29, Scouts, parents, friends and family made their way to Olive Drive Church. Blue and gold filled the air and the Boy Scouts celebrated their 75th Anniversary and the first Pinewood Derby for Pack 855. This was an exciting and fun event for all involved.
On your mark, get set ... GO! Pinewood Derby racecars in all shapes, sizes and colors took to the track, and what a thrilling race it was. This Pinewood Derby had a special guest in attendance: Sheriff Mac Wimbish was the race officiate, along with Pastor Mike Popvich and his son, David. Cars were not allowed to weigh more than five ounces. Awards were donated by Kern Security Systems, Inc., to those in the fastest cars in each pack, as well as the top three fastest cars overall.
The Scouts also competed in a cake decorating contest, in which all contestants won a very special 75th anniversary badge for their hard work. Awards included best use of theme, best use of props, and most patriotic. The cakes were not only beautifully decorated, but they tasted great, too!
The Scouts, along with their friends and family, had a grand time racing their Pinewood Derby racecars, eating their scrumptious potluck dinner and enjoying the flavors of the delicious cakes.
Troop 855, led by Cub Master Matthew Wilkinson, is a wonderful organization for your son to be a part of.
