In the mood for breakfast, baked goods or other goodies? Search out The Hidden Corner, located at 10014 Rosedale Highway just past El Chile Verde.

Owned by Victoria Martin, The Hidden Corner opened to business Dec. 3 and offers a variety of "eggs and things," including the breakfast croissant ($5.95), which comes with scrambled eggs, onion, bellpeppers, ham and Swiss cheese, and the Quiche Lorraine ($6.95), ham, bacon, Swiss cheese and green onion eggs baked in a fresh pie crust. Omlettes include the Denver ($7.45) and Veggie Special ($6.95), which comes with bell peppers, onion, tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli and two cheeses. All selections come with your choice of hashbrowns, ranch potatoes, cottage cheese or fruit and biscuits and gravy or toast. Smaller menu items, like the pancake sandwich, are also available. Waffles with strawberries and whipped cream ($6.75) and French toast ($5.25) round off the menu. The Hidden Corner will begin serving lunch after Christmas. Another new kid in town is The Blessing Corner Q at 9517 Rosedale Highway. Pastor John Turner and his wife, Bonnie, use the barbecue and Southern cooking restaurant as job training for Greater Lighthouse Community Outreach Inc.

Daily specials include golden fried chicken on Tuesdays, smothered steak and onions on Wednesdays and Louisiana Gumbo on Friday and Saturday. The dinner menu includes the tri-tip dinner ($12) and three-meat combo dinner ($16.95). Desserts, like the coconut pie with whipped cream and old-fashioned bread pudding, are $3.50. Special family packs are available, and you can choose from dine-in, take-out or catering/delivery. Hours are Tuesday to Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Call 213-4113.

Northwest resident Christine Rice opened the new Delicata's Boutique in Colonial Square. Delicata's offers women's and juniors' fine clothing and brands like Citrine, French Dressing, Kenzie, Samuel Dong and Faith. A variety of holiday formals are also available. Hours are Monday to Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 12 to 5 p.m. 5117 Ming Ave. Call 832-2821.

Phoenix Custom Homes has begun construction on the third St. Jude Dream Home to be raffled for the benefit of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Organizers say the 2005 giveaway will offer 12,000 chances to win to win the St. Jude Dream Home and other prizes. Tickets will go on sale Feb. 15 for $100 each. The home, to be valued at approximately $500,000, will be built by Brandon and Shannon Roberson of Phoenix Custom Homes on a lot in the Olive Park community. Winners will be announced on KERO-TV in June. To donate materials or services for the house, contact Lisa Roberson at 215-2411.
