Youth Athlete of the Month Nominating Wade Froehlich

I am nominating my son Wade Froehlich because of his amazing dedication to a sport that gets very little recognition. He practices year round on a Boys Gymnastics Team at American Kids Sports Center. His dedication to the sport amazes me. He loves all sports and does his best to juggle Flag Football and Baseball while continuing his year round sport. Most importanlty he has been a loving and caring son, a great student at school and church, and a wonderful example for his younger brother and sister. We are so very proud of him. We love you....Papa, Mama, Jake and Nicoletta !

Sally Wang and Mason Trueblood traveled to Las Vegas to represent Bakersfield at the West Coast Dance Explosion National Competition. The two dancers are from Civic Dance Center's performing company Troupe Civic. They were a part of the Elite program that performed behind R&B artist Deborah Cox at the Gala. They also competed for the national senior title. Sally was awarded 2nd runner up, out of 32 ladies. Both dancers received year-long scholarships to the dance convention for the 2009 season.

We went on vacation to Santee Lakes in Santee, near San Diego. Our campsite was right on lake 6 and you would usually catch me sitting in a chair, fishing, and reading. The Northwest Voice was a great read...as always.

Oregon Dunes Are The Best!!!!

Every year we travel with two or three other families to Winchester Bay, Oregon where we enjoy riding our quads on their wonderful dunes and soaking up the cool weather. Here are Chealsee New, Marissa Reimer and McKensee New taking a break from riding.

Every year, Gavin has had the opportunity to visit the Bahamas and loves every moment of it. Gavin is the son of BJ and Matt Binning, both residents of Bakersfield. His mother is a native of the Bahamas and most of her family still resides there, hence the visits every year. Gavin enjoys his visits with his mother, father and two brothers.

The pictures that Gavin would like to share are from one of his best trips. The first picture shows Gavin in front of the House of Parliament on Bay Street, in Nassau, Bahamas. The second picture shows Gavin at the Atlantis Hotel, on Paradise Island with a man on stilts who was a part of junkanoo, the local street festival.

The remaining picures shows Gavin enjoying the ocean and his time on the island.

Cailee and Madalyn Luter took The Northwest Voice on their vacation! They traveled to Mono Lake, the Reno Volleyball Festival, Yellowstone National Park, the Idaho Potato Museum, and Zion National Park with their Mom and Grandma, and The Northwest Voice came along too.
