About Robin
Hello, everyone.
The name's Robin. I graduated from Liberty High School on May 31, 2007. (For those who didn't realize it, there was a blue moon that night!) I'm currently taking off-line and online classes through Taft College, but I intend to switch over to BC and get my AA in journalism. Taft College has the saddest college newspaper I've ever seen. (Well, sorry. The truth hurts sometimes!)
I love writing, copy editing and the English language. I hope to work for a newspaper someday, although I have not yet decided where I'd prefer to work in the field of journalism. Photography is my favorite hobby and I usually take my camera with me everywhere I go. I'm a terrible gardener, but I love to grow things anyway. Oh, yeah, and I love animals, too! I have quite a few critters.
I'm a bit boring and not quite normal for my age. That's basically who I am in a nutshell, honestly.

Hi Robin. You sound not weird, but very interesting. Sorry your teachers at Liberty seem evil to you. I am a teacher, but not at Liberty, so I guess that puts me in Purgatory somewhere. I have an idea for a person like you who loves journalism: ever thought about interviewing teens around town and writing profiles on them? Some pieces could be about teens who are really interesting people doing cool stuff around the county (like you) or they could be articles that explore problems unique to young people (like anorexia--see MSNBC's 11/27/05 article entitled "Fighting Anorexia") Just a few ideas for you...however, whatever you decide, I am eager to read your work.

Welcome, Robin! The Northwest Voice is home delivered to 24,000-plus homes in Northwest Bakersfield every other Thursday, so if you live in the Northwest you should receive it. If you want to pick up a copy, we have a list of rack locations on the homepage. I'm glad you're disproving the theory that no young people read newspapers! I'm always impressed by the quality of Liberty's paper. rnrnWe have a lot of opportunities if you'd like to write for The Voice, and we're starting a Southwest Voice in April. I'd like to get more young writers involved in contributing. Almost all of our content is reader-generated. So e-mail me at lward@northwestvoice.com if you're interested in doing more ...
