     As Jesus approached the final week of His earthly ministry, He stopped at Bethany, near Jerusalem, to have some time with His friends, Lazarus, Simon, Mary and Martha.  While Jesus was eating supper at Simon’s house, Mary anointed His feet with a fragrant perfume in preparation for what lay ahead for Him.  Mary apparently had knowledge that the death of Jesus was near at hand, and she feared, or knew, she might not be able to anoint Him when dead.  Therefore, Jesus said, “She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial” (Mark 14: 8).
