When do we meet?

We meet the first Thursday of the month for an activity, and the third Thursday of the month from 9:00-11:00a.m. for our general meeting.

What does it cost?

Eighty dollars for the whole year. This helps cover childcare, crafts, and the MOPS International fees.

What is a MOPPET?

During the MOPS meeting, children are cared for in a program called MOPPETS, where they enjoy stories, crafts, snacks, and playtime!

Music In Motion

The Talons and Centennial High School are proud to present one of Kern County's finest marching band competitions, Music in Motion, is in its 13th year. The dynamic show will take place on November 22, 2008, gates open at 9 am.

The Talons would like to invite the community to come out and support the Centennial High School Marching Band, while enjoying music performed by over 30 bands from all over Southern California and the surrounding areas.

Come join us as we watch the impressive field shows and enjoy lots of great food including tri-tip sandwiches, hamburgers, Frito boats, kettle corn, and more!

Tickets are available at the Centennial High football field gate. General Admission $7.00, Students and Seniors $4.

Wine Fest presented by Junior League of Bakersfield

Starry Night is the artistic-inpsired theme of the this year's wine fest. Enjoy food from Bakersfield's finest restaurants, wines from California's most notable wineries and live and silent auctions. Relax in the cigar bar or cheer with friends in the sports tent. Proceeds benefit the community projects of Junior League of Bakersfield.

Covenant CARENET Drop-Off Day

CARENET is collecting gently used and new furniture, which will be distributed to Kern County’s foster children and emancipating foster youth. On Saturday, November 15^th, CARENET staff will be collecting beds, bedding, couches, tables, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers and other household necessities. Please bring donations to 1801 Belle Terrace between 8AM – 1PM. Each donor will be provided with a receipt for all donations. Covenant Community Services is a faith-based, nonprofit organization serving the public through various social services including: foster care placement, transitional housing, mentoring, mental health and family preservation services. More about CARENET: CARENET is an outreach program serving children and families by providing resources to insure that a simple resource lack is not a reason for children to remain in an out-of-home placement. CARENET provides goods and services to children and families to build success. CARENET consists of an individual or a group of people in the community who use their talents and resources to help a child and family in need. Plumbers, office workers, retired individuals, families, people with trucks, electricians, business owners, and other friendly people in the community can make a difference in the lives of families. CARENET is a community network designed to build families and enable success. Covenant collects new and gently used household furniture including beds, sofas and dining tables, which are distributed to the families in need. Covenant also recruits people from the community with specific skill sets (i.e. plumbing, electrical) who will volunteer time to assist families in need. The community can help by calling 661-326-8304 to donate items or volunteer time. Donation means so much to families who are desperately trying to heal. With the help of people in our community, CARENET can meet the needs of hurting and hopeless children and families.

The Magical Forest

With the holiday season approaching, the top of Stockdale Towers parking structure will be transformed for the month of December into a winter wonderland of lights and displays.

The Magical Forest will delight every age! Enjoy a holiday adventure that includes Santa’s secret shoppe, a forest of sights and sounds, tantalizing food, Santa at the North Pole, the Grinchmobile and train rides, live entertainment and more than 30 crafters!

Make it a family tradition! The Magical Forest will be open from December 5 through December 28, 2008, 6-9 p.m. Tickets: Children 5 and under are free, children 6-12 $4; adults $8, and seniors $6.

East Bakersfield High Dinner / Dance

You are invited to attend the 2nd Annual EBHS AAA Dinner / Dance being held on Saturday, October 25. The AAA is the parent booster club at East High and we support academics and athletics at the school. This year's event will be held at the East Bakersfield Veteran's Hall - 2101 Ridge Road - just off Mt. Vernon. We will open the doors at 6pm with a no-host bar and a buffet dinner at 7pm.
